Grand Final for IIMT – Oxford Brookes University
Innovation Challenge 2011

IIMT - Oxford Brookes Innovation Challenge has been instituted in 2010 by IIMT and Oxford Brookes University, UK to create a platform for expression of innovative ideas of young undergraduates in India. It’s an initiative to address the problems faced by India in numerous areas. The effort is to bring out a change at the grass root levels and bring in these ideas to organizations which could adopt them and usher in a change.

The first round of Innovation Challenge was conducted in the year 2010. In 2011, 122 teams from schools across India have participated enthusiastically. The essays submitted by teams are assessed by panel of academics and practitioners. Top 15 teams got the opportunity to present their ideas on December 2nd, 2011 at Leela Kempinski Hotel, Gurgaon. The prime focus of the challenge has been to provide young talents of India with a platform to demonstrate their ability to think out of the box and come up with innovative ideas which will propel the country on its trajectory of growth by unleashing its creative energies.

First Prize:
Deepika English Medium School, Rourkela presented the work on 'Managing Terrorism in India'. Deepika English Medium School Team consisted of Prajyoti Adyasha Das, Md. Zeeshan Siddique, Shubhangi Rout who were supported by their faculty mentor Ms. Rita Singh. The team has won An all inclusive 7days trip to Oxford Brookes University at Oxford and London & winner’s Trophy. The students analyzed elimination of terrorism’s core causes and were of the opinion for maintaining and implementing “Peace Restoring Authority of INDIA”.

Second Prize:
Sai International School, Bhubaneswar presented the work on Managing terrorism in India. The School Team consisted of Pallavi Panigrahi, Harisankar Mahapatra who were supported by their faculty mentor Ms. Panigrahi. The team has won laptops for each member of the team & Trophy. The students proposed a novel idea of "sustained campaign against terror by the civil society" to deal with terrorism.

Third Prize:
Delhi Public School, Rourkela presented the work on Role of society and government for conserving environment. The School Team consisted of Aniket Kumar who was supported by his faculty mentor Mr. Bijoy Mathur. The student has won Cash Prize of INR 20,000 & Trophy. The student discussed on the role of the media, a key mover in society, in unleashing the Nurture Nature campaign by setting up Noah’s Ashram – a protected natural environment for endangered fauna of India.

Fourth Prize:
Sacred Heart Sr. Sec. School, Chandigarh presented their work on Making education more relevant for changing society. The School Team consisted of Isha Ghai, Jayanti Jha, Sakshi Bhalla, Surprit Rekhi who were supported by their faculty mentor Ms. Lucy Sebastian. The team has won a cash Prize of INR 15,000 & Trophy. The students analysed how to vocationalize learning by bringing in technology in the educational domain.

Fifth Prize:
DPS, Gurgaon presented their work on Expectations from higher education. The School Team consisted of Avtar Sahgal, Aditya Sriram, Anuroop Hari, Siddhart Gupta who were supported by their faculty mentor Ms. Sonia Jain. The team has won a cash Prize of INR 10,000 & Trophy. The students focused upon the importance of education for the advancement of India. They reinforced the constitutional idea of right to learn for everyone.

Chief Guest
A special mention for our Chief Guest, Mr M.S Bitta – Chairman – All India Anti Terrorist Front for honoring the competition with his presence and encouraging participants.
